World Book Day at Coláiste Chiaráin
Students and staff at Coláiste Chiaráin marked World Book day in the school by participating in various book themed events.
The Junior Cycle students took part in a Public Speaking Competition. The topics were related to literature and love of reading. All eight participants spoke fluently on their chosen topics. First prize was awarded to Athenais who spoke on the topic of Reading and Literature.
Runner Up prize was awarded to Mia for her speech which was inspired by the quote “Today A Reader, Tomorrow A Leader”.
All First Year students took part in a table quiz.
Winners of the quiz were Niamh, Lauren, Rose and Olivia. The whole school was invited to take part in a reading challenge which took place in the
school library. Students also took part in a “Guess The Book Title” competition whereby students had to uncover clues which led them to the title of a famous book. The competition winners were Jordan and Laura. Well done to everyone who participated in the events. Thank you to Ms. Morris, Ms. Manenti as organisers of the events and to Ms. Marguerite Quinlan & Ms. Pamela McCormack as judges of the competition. Thanks also to the Transition Year librarians who assisted with the activities to commemorate World Book Day.
