First year enrolment is normally in October. Primary schools in the area are provided with prospectus and information, followd by a open evening

5. What subjects will be on offer in Coláiste Chiaráin?
All students in Junior Cycle will study Irish, English Maths, History, Geography, Science and Religious Education. They will also study subjects under the umbrella of Wellbeing: (SPHE, PE & CSPE).
Students will have a wide choice of 10 optional subjects to choose 3 from:
French, German, Visual Art, Home Economics, Music, Business, Applied Technology, Engineering, Wood Technology and Graphics.

6. How will Coláiste Chiaráin assist Students in their Transition from Primary to Secondary School?
We have:
- An assessment morning in January
- A Transition to Secondary Programme in June: activities to introduce incoming students to the school and new subjects, along with getting their locker and textbooks
- Induction Day in August with 1st Year students and their tutors
- Taster programme for all optional subjects during 1st term
- A pastoral care, year head and tutor system to support students
