Academic Tracking and Progression

At Coláiste Chiaráin, we want to help all students achieve their full potential and make the most out of their time at school. Each student has unique abilities, learning styles, and potential for growth. That is why we use the Athena Tracker.
The Athena Tracker is a data-driven tool used by schools to track and support student progress. The software helps teachers identify strengths, address areas for improvement and ensures that each student is given the opportunity to reach their own individual potential.
Using machine learning technology, the Athena Tracker analyses each student’s past results, academic performance and various other data. The software then pinpoints a student’s baseline potential for each subject. The software also highlights when a student is performing above their potential, even if not achieving top grades. At the opposite end, the software also highlights when a student may need greater challenges that will bring the very most out of them. By using the Athena Tracker, we are shining a light on every single student.
If you have any questions about the tracker please visit: ‘Athena Tracker: A Guide for Parents’, where you’ll find videos, parent testimonials and answers to parents’ most frequently asked questions.
Target grades
We encourage all our students to achieve their full potential in every aspect of their education, including fulfilling their academic potential. In conjunction with our guidance department, class tutors and their teachers, 2nd to 6th year students will be asked to set grade targets for each subject over the course of the academic year. These targets will be reviewed during the year. In the case of 6th year students, these targets also include their CAO points target.
The school is using Athena tracker to monitor student progress and create a baseline potential in each subject in each exam.
