Parents & Guardians Association

A Message from the Parents Association

Colaiste Chiarain Parents Association has been very active over the years in supporting and working with the principal, staff and Board of Management to build good relationships between parents and the school, with the aim of enhancing the educational experience for our children.

While all parents/guardians of students of the school are welcome to become members of the parents association, a number of parents are active members, who have joined the Committee which consists of a chairperson, secretary, joint treasurers and committee members. Meetings are held during the school year and are attended by the Principal/Deputy Principal, Officers and any parent who wishes to attend.

Why join the Parents Association?

  • It’s a great way to network and meet other parents.
  • It’s also a good opportunity to meet with the Principal and other teachers in a collaborative environment.
  • We raise issues of concern for parents/guardians and organise guest speakers and webinars.
  • We support school initiatives such as schools plays/musicals and fund raising activities.
  • Some members of the PA serve on the Board of Management and they assist from a parents perspective in terms of contributing to and eventually ratifying all policies.
  • Over recent years, the Parents Association was heavily involved the fundraising activities for our state-of-the-art new school and the focus is now on supporting the introduction of new initiatives/activities as the needs of our school evolves and grows.
  • Throughout the school year we support the school and students for the TY Musical, Open Days and we organise an annual quiz and other fundraising activities.
  • We are currently supporting the school in the new Greenway initiative to enable our children to be able walk/cycle to school.
  • Meetings are minuted and these are available to all parents.

We would be delighted to welcome some new members onto the Committee, or just to attend meetings, and we welcome any and all ideas and suggestions that will enhance our children’s educational experience, as it is such an impactful part of their journey through life.

Colaiste Chiarain is a great school and we are very proud to support it as part of the Parents Association.
